Team Novak introduce the Diablo dual battery brushless system for monster trucks such as the Traxxas E-Maxx or HPI Savage that make use of dual battery power. The 550-size motor and speed controller are designed from the ground up to run from two 2S or 6-cell NiMH batteries as found in 1/10 scale vehicles. The controller features Novak’s own Bash Boost technology that boosts the performance of the motor by advancing the timing at a certain RPM and throttle position. The sensored 550-size motor sports a 5mm shaft and a one-piece, multi-pole sintered Neodymium magnet.

LRP ‘Boost 0′ speed control proposal
LRP have announced that they are sending a rule proposal for ‘Boost 0 speed controls’ to all the important RC federations to help create a new standard for this setting in all ESCs. As there was no exact definition of ‘Boost 0′, the drivers couldn’t be sure that the ‘Boost 0′ speed controls from the different manufacturers were on the same performance level. With the LRP rule proposal, the definite technical meaning of ‘Boost 0′ is now clearly defined for the very first time. Other manufacturers also get a firm base to ensure that ‘Boost 0′ speed controls of different manufacturers can be allowed in one class, because they are based on the same preconditions. Speed controllers eligible for ‘Boost 0′ classes must provide zero timing advance, along with disabling advanced motor control functions (i.e. Boost, Cheat Mode, Turbo, etc). When the ‘Boost 0′ profile is enabled, it shall be indicated by a blinking LED while the ESC is armed and in neutral position. The commutation sequence is limited to ‘6-step’ type and commutation of the speed control must follow the motors hall sensor signals 1:1, e.g. no shifted timing (no matter if advanced or retarded) is allowed at any RPM.

CS Electronic CSX Stock Spec
CS Electronic’s new Competition CSX stock spec speed controller is a highly updated version of their 2009 World Championship winning CS Rocket speedo. Especially designed for stock racing classes the new controller offers special power programs and a 9.5T motor limit. Smaller dimensions and lower weight as well as a modular design make for an easier installation in the car. Depending on weather conditions, or the motor used, the heat sink or fan can be added to the CSX to lower operating temperatures. The three power capacitors now reside on a separate board for easier installation and exchange. New solder tabs for the power wires makes changing them a breeze. Software-wise the speedo offers 6 modified programs, 4 ‘outlaw’ stock power programs and 4 ‘legal’ stock programs. Usable with both sensor and sensorless motors CS Electronic’s new controller also offers a PC interface for easy update and storage ability.
